Source: Wikimedia Commons Airlines are reducing the number of flights to and from Moscow and Russia as a whole due to a massive drop off in demand. Part of the reduction in demand stems from less Russians vacations or traveling abroad due to the ruble falling by so much, making foreign trips far more expensive. Another aspect to consider is Western sanctions on Russia and Russia's sanctions on the West. On March 24, Russian airlines were abandoning 71 international flight routes to once popular destinations. This is another sign of how Western powers are continuing their campaign to isolate Russia in the wake of rising geopolitical tensions over Ukraine and NATO, and how Russia is attempting to fight back.
